Hi I am retired now but still play with cars at times I have a soles pro Any help would be cool Joe. Pick your platform. Joe Rappa. Joe, that sounds like the going rate for an update.
VERUS® PRO Diagnostic and Information System and Software
Keep in mind that the Solus Pro is close to the end of its life. It won't be updated for much longer. Is Updating to Snap On 18.4 Worth It??
I wouldn't argue with him on it either. It's a solid performer. If you don't update often, maybe it wound't be a bad investment for you. On the other hand, if it broke, it may not be supported for repairs much longer. Myself, if I wasn't earning a living at it, I'd look hard at the Ethos Pro.
Comes with Euro, no personality keys, no troubleshooter, no Suretrack, but the same capabilities as the Solus Edge. I've had a couple of teacher friends retire recently and that's what I recommended they get. Originally Posted by joec Would you look to purchase a used MT? Not sure if this cool setup is legit or notprobably you'll need to buy the correct entire scanner besides to get the X software onto the phonebut if this guy provides x software and if you don't need to get entire scan tool and all you need is the smart phone, the app, and the Bluetooth VCI, it seems like a economical alternative, Hate to have the wife's in coming calls interrupting and corrupting some procedure thoughso maybe it's a dumber idea than it looks.

Rumor has it that this will be the last update for it though. I just asked my Snap-on man about that today. He called his Tech guy, and he confirmed that yes indeed, Wasn't Log in. Forgot your password? Forgot your username?

I just wanted to let everyone know that my snap on guy says that snap on will no longer be making updates after next year for the first gen verus. Don't worry guys the verus is still going to be a excellent tool for many years to come even with no updates. Because the software is starting to exceed the hardware's limits of the tool. I think they're phasing out all the tools with personality keys.
Like you say though, it will still be a valuable tool for many more years. Snap on guy almost had me talked into getting the new verus. Not Allowed: to create new topic. Not Allowed: to reply. Not Allowed: to add attachements. Not Allowed: to edit your message.

You'll have to contact snapon. Even if it wasn't illegal,no one elses update will work in your scan tool. I did I have my dealer looking but he said you just have to find one that a dealer has laying around still.

Potentially a good option for some, but the OP has tooling that is no longer supported with updates past As a computer hobbyist i can see the reason to stop support for older platforms.
The snap on software in the verdict and edge are the same and due to the hardware there is a massive difference is how they work. The hardware will just bog down the scan tool to the point of being almost unable to work, then the CS team would be flooded with service calls, eating resources that would otherwise be used for other problems.
Even regular software has minimum hardware requirements and if you dont have the minimum hardware then you basically dont get support. And i do understand they are in the business of selling the hardware too. Originally Posted by Turbo1dr. I do not know if the OP has done that. All times are GMT The time now is PM. Lost password?Last original Verus update?
How to check for & download software updates
Anyone from Snap On care to confirm or deny this? With the Verus platform being pc based, I think they would have a hard time justifying ending support for it. Even the first Verus has a larger hard drive than the Verus edge - so an excuse of hard drive capacity ain't gonna fly The Verus pro shares the xp operating system the original Verus has, so if they discontinued support due to operating system, they'd have to do so on the pro as well - which would really make scanner buyers gunshy.
The is now approaching nine years in age wow if I am not mistaken.
This is ancient in terms of technology's rapid evolution process. I could understand if the newer software was not able to run on older software think Windows 10 on an Intel MHz processor. I know the latest products from Adobe Photoshop and some of the other Creative Cloud elements will for sure not run on Win 98 machines, and hick-up on Win XP. Actually in terms of software, this is not accurate, and there have been hardware changes too. For example, the scope in the can't graph ohms, that was added in the Pro.Initialize hard drive i/o error
There is more to it than just writing code and soldering hardware. Typically hardware is designed first, then software to run on it. As software evolves, it is written to optimize more modern hardware, and as a result, older hardware usually gets left behind no longer supported. Obviously one could argue that this may be a marketing ploy, to sell new machines, but incompatibility issues abound in the tech world on this subject daily.
Last edited by Wheel; at AM. Originally Posted by Crusty. Quite often it is merely "convenient" to claim that hardware is no longer capable. I still use 20 and 30 year old kit almost every day.
When was Ohm's Law written-? With this being a factor, there are things beyond the control of Snap-on. Sure, they could run a flavor of Unix, Linux, or some other third party software, but there would be even more compatibility issues. I still have to disagree about the first Verus scope graphing ohms, there is VERY obvious hardware limitations in that scope if you open it up and do some tinker testing and I haveso it's more than lines of code I do that too.
So even if it is a marketing ploy, so what, that's free enterprise and ALL brands do it. If car makers made cars to only break after k, we would not be needed.
Last edited by Crusty; at PM. XP is WAY more capable than CE and they only just this year dropped these platforms, so I think it realistic to expect another years of updates for the verus. If xp is the issue, then what are they going to do about the verus pro which has xp also? Since that is what you have, you may want to find out and plan accordingly. If they retire that new of a platform, then they will really have a hard time convincing people to buy their scanners, unless they drastically lower the hardware prices.
The scope's ohmmeter gathers the information data points, does it not? If you monitored a potentiometer through its range, the digital meter changes values along with it, does it not?
These are gathered datapoints, are they not? These once delivered can be processed and plotted by the software, can they not? Another example of software graphing - The original MT couldn't graph, but someone made computer software to make it possible on a computer - which the Verus happens to be. It shouldn't even take much computing power because even the humble old vantage did it quite well with far less computing power. Probably neither of us will convince the other on this issue, but your playing devil's advocate has given me a better opportunity to call Snap on out on this - thanks.Log in.

Just wanted to pass along a little info I received today while having my Vantage Pro updated to First, I am told by my Snap-On rep that I asked about updating my Verus Pro D10 and was told Snap-On is offering a deal until the end of this week that if you update to Just wanted to share.
The following user s said Thank You: Noahyuckbarry. If someone could be so kind and chime in with any possible solution. That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. So I ended up buying them both. Found out that the vantage pro actually has the 8.
And solus pro has 9. I really hope someone can help me update these. That would be great. Word is that the last update for the Vantage Pro was last fall and you could have gotten it up until I didn't know that until too late. I was told that the latest updates are downloaded into the tool rep's laptop or PC and overwrites whatever else was in there.
